What is OpenCongress?
OpenCongress is a free, nonpartisan platform that makes legislative data accessible to everyone — across the U.S. Congress, the French Parliament, and the New York City Council, with more on the way.
Public institutions produce public data — but it's buried in interfaces that weren't designed for regular people. OpenCongress brings votes, bills, members, and committees into one clear, searchable place, and adds an AI assistant that answers questions grounded in the live legislative record.
It's built and maintained by Pierre Pariente Dimitrov — a product designer and engineer who has spent fifteen years making complex systems more usable. Born in France and living in the U.S. for over a decade, he built OpenCongress to make it easier to follow politics in both countries.
OpenCongress is independent and self-funded: no venture capital, no political affiliations, no ads. Just one person trying to make civic information work better for everyone.
One account. Every parliament.
Same account, same subscription, wherever you follow politics. Pick a legislature to begin — your profile and AI subscription travel with you.
